Speak Up/Listen Up is an advanced communication program that teaches students the powerful skills of mindful speaking and active listening. Based on the traditional Talking Circle or Council method, this program fosters a deep sense of community and trust within the classroom. Students are encouraged to speak one at a time, without interruption, while their peers listen attentively, focusing solely on understanding rather than responding.
This program can be used in various contexts, including emotional check-ins, problem-solving sessions, or as a platform for students to express their thoughts and ideas.
